Releasing the Potential of HR Transformation
9th November 2004
Crowne Plaza London - St. James

The Focus Group’s latest Forum - ‘ Releasing the Potential of HR Transformation’ - organised in conjunction with Siemens Business Services facilitated by Atos KPMG Consulting, is dedicated to a thorough re-assessment of the role and status of HR in business.

There is clear evidence to show that the way companies organise and lead people accounts for as much as  30-40 percent variation of profit and sustained Total Shareholder Return.

Organisations that only pay lip service to the phrase, 'People are our most important asset', do so at their peril. The way companies structure and lead their staff  delivers differentiated performance and competitive advantage. In the highest performing organisations, senior leaders take HR seriously and recognise that it is a main driver for sustained success. In turn, HR functions must rise to the challenge and in many cases transform themselves to deliver on the promise. This conference focuses on that transformation journey.

The conference will address 3 main topic areas:

  • Why should we transform HR and how do we start to quantify the value that HR can bring to an organisation?
  • What are the typical aspects of HR transformation:
    • HR Strategy & alignment to the business. Identifying what HR should deliver internally (e.g. value-add activities that allow HR to better deliver brand awareness and a differentiated business environment and non-core activities that are commodity-based and could be delivered just as efficiently if not more so via a 3 rd party)
    • HR process, supporting HR strategy and proven as adding value in its right (e.g. we do not do performance appraisals twice a year unless we understand the value of doing so)
    • HR technology – increasing employee accessibility to HR data; introducing meaning to our management information (e.g. predictive) and creating a platform which is flexible and easily integrated, allowing internal and external suppliers to the HR function to easily converse and share data/process activities.
  • Managing People – those in the HR function and the customers of HR
    • HR itself – adapting to new ways of working; understanding how its customers’ requirements have changed; taking charge of its new role
    • HR customers – candidates, employees, line managers, business leaders, shareholders – how we all become part of a more ‘people based’ organisation

The forum promises to be one of 2004’s most lively and relevant HR events on the calendar. With a high profile and well informed platform of speakers who will provide first hand experience and valuable knowledge. Speakers include:
